Sindh Government establishes women helpline service for women protection

Irum Khalid, special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister for Women Development Department inaugurated 1094 helpline on Wednesday at the Directorate OF Women Development Department Karachi.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, she expressed her wishes for the progress of women and said that they will help women try their level best. She said that she was really glad that during her tenure, they did a lot of work for the development and empowerment in Sindh.

Secretary Women Development Haroon Ahmed Khan welcomed the Chief guest and all guests said women are pillars of society and this department will encourage women from all walks of life for the betterment of women in Sindh.
Secretary Social Welfare Ms. Ailya Shahid said that running a women helpline is a challenging task. She wished Women Development Department success in implementation and running of helpline and laid emphasis on cooperation between both the departments.

There was a critical need of such helpline for women who are facing issues of harassment and domestic abuse. This helpline is an initiative to help such women and make them feel secure.

There is also a women helpline in Punjab established by Punjab Government. The toll-free helpline 1043 operates from 8am to 4pm and women can get legal guidance regarding problems they are facing related to harassment, domestic abuse and property dispute.
