Sindh has announced a major change in its government job recruitment system, introducing a new policy that awards five additional marks to candidates based on their academic performance. The move aims to make the hiring process fairer and more merit-based across all provincial departments.
The policy, notified by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, states that applicants from Grade 5 to Grade 15 will receive five extra points if they have secured at least 50 percent marks in their educational credentials. Officials say this step will help encourage academic excellence and give equal opportunity to deserving candidates across Sindh.
Giving background to the development, authorities highlighted that several regions had been demanding a transparent scoring mechanism to ensure merit, especially after complaints about inconsistent evaluation standards in previous recruitment cycles. The new system seeks to address these concerns and create uniformity in assessments.
The notification further adds that candidates with Intermediate qualifications will be given an extra five points in the test, while those appearing under the IBA Sukkur testing system will also be guaranteed the same additional marks. According to Section Officer Faizan Qazi, this uniform scoring formula will apply to all government departments without exception.
Speaking at the announcement, an official commented,
“This policy strengthens merit and ensures that students’ academic hard work is recognized during recruitment.”
The government hopes this will motivate more young people to pursue higher education and perform better academically.
