The Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) has invited research proposals under the Sindh Research Support Program (SRSP) 2026-27, offering grants of up to Rs. 5 million per project to eligible faculty members of public sector universities and degree-awarding institutes across the province.
The grants will support research projects for a period of two years, with applications open until October 23, 2026. Full-time regular faculty members holding PhD, FCPS, MCPS, or FRCS qualifications and serving under the BPS or TTS system are eligible to apply. Each applicant can submit only one project as Principal Investigator, while faculty members who received the program’s award during the previous two years are not eligible.
Sindh HEC is seeking research proposals across fields including natural and physical sciences, medical sciences, engineering and technology, IT and computer science, social sciences, management sciences, agriculture, urban planning, environmental sciences, and life sciences.
Priority will be given to collaborative research addressing key provincial challenges such as climate change, food security, water management, sustainable energy, public health, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, emerging technologies, and educational reforms. Projects with commercialization potential and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will also receive preference.
Applicants must submit the prescribed SRSP application form along with the required documents and obtain endorsements from the Director ORIC and head of their respective university or higher education institution. The complete application must be combined into a single PDF and emailed to Sindh HEC before the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
According to Sindh HEC, the SRSP has supported research projects through multiple funding rounds since its launch in 2020. During 2025-26, the commission approved 57 projects and distributed Rs. 111.4 million in research funding.
