Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the School Education Department to make newly upgraded schools fully operational by April 2, 2027, while ordering a province-wide enrollment campaign for out-of-school children.
The directives were issued during a review meeting of the Sindh Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP) in Karachi. The SSEIP and SELECT programs cover 1,133 schools across the province, including 838 under SSEIP and 295 under SELECT.
Officials expect 552 schools to be completed by December 2026 and 801 by March 2027. The chief minister directed officials to ensure schools completed by March have furniture, teachers and other essential facilities in place by April 2.
Murad Shah also ordered the expansion of an enrollment campaign initially launched at five upgraded secondary schools in Thatta. The nine-day pilot enrolled 702 students in Classes VI to X, including 409 girls, while 102 out-of-school or dropout children returned to education.
Community teams visited feeder schools, neighborhoods and villages as part of door-to-door outreach. The chief minister directed officials to expand the campaign across Sindh, with a focus on girls and children who have dropped out, and to finalize a transparent framework for managing upgraded schools.
