The Sindh government has decided to partner with Education Management Organisations (EMOs) to run 1,133 new and upgraded government schools under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The aim is to improve management and raise educational standards across the province.
As per media reports, the government has begun consultations with private-sector organisations and institutions with education expertise. They would be entrusted with managing the schools, improving learning outcomes and meeting defined performance targets.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah chaired a meeting with representatives of EMOs, private school managements, NGOs, education-sector operators and non-formal education organisations. Participants discussed private-sector involvement in school management, partnership mechanisms, school performance, educational outcomes and accountability systems.

The schools are being built with World Bank and Asian Development Bank support. Facilities include classrooms, furniture, science laboratories, digital libraries, RO plants, solar systems and boundary walls.
The schools are being set up as modern campuses across 19 districts, including Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Thatta, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Sujawal, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Dadu, Ghotki, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Kashmore, Larkana, Jacobabad and Shikarpur.
