Spotify Connects with ChatGPT for Smarter Playlists

In a major step toward interactive AI experiences, OpenAI has partnered with Spotify, allowing users to directly connect their Spotify accounts to ChatGPT for personalized music and podcast recommendations.

The new feature enables users to ask ChatGPT to create playlists, recommend songs, or find podcasts based on their listening habits, moods, or specific events. Once connected, ChatGPT can access your Spotify data including likes and listening history  to generate accurate and tailored suggestions. A button labeled “Use Spotify for this answer” now appears in ChatGPT when Spotify is mentioned, making it easier to link accounts seamlessly.

Users can request anything from a “summer road trip playlist” to songs featuring specific themes or lyrics. ChatGPT can also control playback, add or remove songs, create or follow playlists, and manage your Spotify library directly.

Spotify clarified that no artist or creator content is shared with OpenAI for training, ensuring user data remains secure. However, users should note that by connecting their accounts, they agree to Spotify’s privacy policy, which includes limited data sharing for functionality. The integration can be disconnected at any time.

This feature is available in English across 145 countries for all ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users, on both web and mobile. Both free and premium Spotify users can enjoy it, though premium members receive a more personalized experience.

A Spotify spokesperson said,

“This integration makes discovering and enjoying music even more intuitive, combining AI creativity with personal taste.”
