Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary gas suspension in several areas of Karachi due to pipeline relocation and maintenance work near the Nipa Flyover under the BRT project.
According to the utility company, lowering work on a 20-inch high-pressure gas pipeline will be carried out near the Nipa Flyover following a request from TransKarachi under Phase II of the project.
The work is scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm on May 23 and continue until 5:00 am on Sunday, though officials said the timeline may be extended due to technical requirements. Restoration work could continue until 8:00 am.
During the maintenance activity, gas supply will remain suspended in multiple areas, including Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital, and Karachi Central Jail.
SSGC also warned of low gas pressure in the SITE Industrial Area and surrounding localities, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, Saddar, Kharadar, Lyari, and Garden.
The company stated that consumers will be informed once the work is completed and supply is fully restored. It also apologized for the inconvenience caused during the operation.
