T Chowk Flyover Inaugurated After Record Time Completion

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the T-Chowk Flyover and the Islamabad Expressway Signal-Free Corridor, marking a major step toward easing traffic congestion between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The projects are expected to significantly improve daily commuting and transport efficiency in the twin cities.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister said the infrastructure projects were completed under the supervision of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to facilitate commuters and transporters using the capital’s main road network. He praised the Interior Ministry, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and their teams for delivering the projects in record time.

The T-Chowk Flyover, also known as the Iqbal Chowk Flyover, was completed in just 77 days at a cost of Rs. 1.4 billion, highlighting the government’s focus on fast-track development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the government remains committed to transparency, quality, and public service in development projects. He also appreciated officials for removing long-standing encroachments and illegal constructions that had obstructed urban planning for decades.

“Illegal encroachments have delayed development for years, and their removal is essential for planned urban growth,” the prime minister said.

The launch of the signal-free corridor is expected to reduce travel time, improve traffic flow, and support Islamabad’s expanding urban infrastructure, reinforcing the government’s focus on sustainable city development.
