Tecno Mobile has introduced a new budget 5G smartphone, the Tecno Pop X 5G, expanding its Pop series with a mix of modern design and practical features. The device focuses on battery life, smooth display performance, and entry-level 5G power, making it an appealing option for everyday users.
The Pop X 5G features a refreshed look, highlighted by a horizontal camera visor on the back. At the same time, it packs a large 6,500mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, which handles daily tasks and 5G connectivity.
On the front, the phone offers a 6.78-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,576 pixels. In addition, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which improves scrolling and animations. The screen reaches up to 560 nits of peak brightness and includes a punch-hole cutout for the 8MP selfie camera.
The rear setup keeps things simple with a single 13MP main camera and an LED flash. Interestingly, the camera module uses 6-series aerospace-grade aluminum, similar to what Tecno used on the Tecno Spark 50. The phone also includes IP64 protection, while its body measures 8.2mm in thickness.
For security and convenience, Tecno added a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Users also get a headphone jack and expandable storage through a dual SIM slot. The device runs on HiOS 16, based on Android 16, bringing several AI-powered tools. These include AI Noise Cancellation, AI Writing Assistant, AI Eraser 2.0, AI Image Extender, and AI Flash Snap. Moreover, the FreeLink feature allows direct calls and texts between compatible Tecno devices without cellular service.
The Tecno Pop X 5G is available in Midnight Blue and Ripple Green color options. The base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at INR 15,999, which is about $172. Meanwhile, the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version costs INR 17,999, around $193. Sales will officially begin on April 24 through Amazon India.
