Telenor partners with Nokia for Pakistan’s first customer-centric network operating model

Telenor Pakistan has collaborated with Nokia to modernize and transform its network to expand its services to an increased number of customers. The partnership agreement will assist Telenor Pakistan to meet its goals of expansion and upgrading the network along with increased penetration of mobile internet services.

The partnership entails that Nokia will manage the multi-vendor network operations for the telecom company, leveraging Nokia’s Global Service Delivery tools. Additionally, Nokia will deploy its Automation, Virtualized, and Analytics (AVA) cognitive services platform for the first time in the region, enabling progressive predictive and customer-centric approaches to network planning, optimization, operations, and maintenance. The services will enable Telenor Pakistan to deploy customer insight software that will assist them in prioritizing network investments based on insights. The platform integrates cloud-based delivery, analytics and automation to deliver instant and efficient personalized services.

Khurram Ashfaque, Chief Technology Officer of Telenor Pakistan commented on the partnership,

“The decision to onboard Nokia is in line with Telenor Pakistan’s ongoing strategy for network expansion, transformation, and virtualization. Our ambition is to set up data ready operations by bringing capabilities of automation, intelligent field operation, smart planning and customer insights with new and advanced tools which we shall leverage through our new global partner. We are constantly bringing innovation to our technology domain in order to bring the true benefits and experience of digital services to our customers and we believe this partnership will give us access to a global pool of
competencies in addition to bringing us one step closer to the fulfillment of our purpose of connecting people to what matters most.”

With this partnership, the two organizations are aiming to redefine the way of work in the technology sector in order to harness collective expertise and capabilities that can upscale competencies, networks, tools, and processes. Under the partnership model, Telenor Pakistan will increase its focus on network governance strategy wile field operations will be managed by Nokia. The two companies will be sharing a higher level of expertise and resource sharing with 233 engineerings of the telecom company collaborating with Nokia.

Bernard Najm, Head of Middle East Market Unit of Nokia is positive about this partnership. He said,

“Under this partnership, our network offerings will not only provide better service quality to Telenor Pakistan subscribers but also prepare the groundwork for digital products and services of the future. Our services portfolio and global expertise will help Telenor Pakistan further improve its operational efficiencies while enabling faster and more reliable services. We look forward to working with Telenor Pakistan and are fully committed to supporting them in meeting the evolving consumer and enterprise demands.”
