The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has cleared three major telecom operators to participate in the country’s upcoming 5G spectrum auction. Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone), Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited (Jazz), and CMPak Limited (Zong) successfully passed the authority’s evaluation process, conducted under the rules of the Information Memorandum.
Set to begin on 10th March 2026, the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS)/5G Spectrum Auction marks a key step in Pakistan’s digital transformation. The auction is expected to accelerate the rollout of 5G networks nationwide, boosting connectivity, supporting technological innovation, and stimulating economic growth.
PTA confirmed that the auction has been prepared transparently and competitively, with each applicant reviewed for eligibility, financial strength, and technical readiness. This ensures fair participation and sustainable deployment of next-generation mobile services.
Industry analysts welcomed the news, noting that participation from all leading telecom players will likely drive competition. Consumers may benefit from better service quality, wider coverage, and new 5G-enabled solutions.
