U.S. & Pakistan Unveil State-of-the-Art USEFP Educational Hub

The educational landscape in Pakistan just received a massive upgrade. Yesterday, December 8, 2025, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Natalie A. Baker inaugurated the brand-new United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) building in Islamabad. Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar joined her for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This event marks a significant milestone. It celebrates the long-standing educational partnership between the two nations. Furthermore, this year commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright program in Pakistan.

USEFP: A Hub for Innovation and Learning

The new facility is impressive. It is a five-story, purpose-built complex covering 9,755 square meters. The design aims to do more than just house offices. It serves as a central resource for learning and exchange.

Inside, students and educators will find a wealth of resources. The building brings several key services under one roof:

  • EducationUSA advising services for students aspiring to study abroad.
  • A Lincoln Corner for cultural engagement.
  • Dedicated training spaces and areas for public programs.

The goal is clear. This facility will equip Pakistan’s next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a global economy. It empowers students and fosters innovation across the board.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The inauguration drew a distinguished crowd. Attendees included U.S. State Department officials Sherry Keneson-Hall and Shelly Seaver, alongside USEFP Executive Director Peter Moran and Chair Kamal Uddin Tipu. Artist Dr. Raja Changez Sultan also attended.

During the event, CDA Baker emphasised the building’s deeper meaning. She noted that as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, this building highlights America’s founding ideals.

Baker remarked:

This is more than a building… It is a symbol of the deep commitment both the United States and Pakistan have to education, innovation, and building a safe, stronger, more prosperous future together.

She added that the space serves as a public hub. Here, Pakistanis can learn more about the United States and exchange ideas on issues that affect everyone.

A Legacy of Exchange

The USEFP has a rich history. Established in 1950 as a binational commission, it is one of 49 Fulbright Commissions worldwide. Over the decades, it has significantly enriched academic ties. More than 9,000 Pakistanis and nearly 1,000 Americans have participated in USEFP-administered exchanges.

This new infrastructure promises to expand access to these vital educational resources, ensuring the partnership continues to grow for years to come.
