“Karachi, your uberAUTO is arriving now”, that’s what the latest headline reads from Uber’s newsroom. The service will be free for the whole week in Karachi, Pakistan.
Uber, a US-based online Transportation Company, first started in Lahore this year and now it’s expanding its services to other areas of Pakistan. It allows the customers to submit their trip request, the application then alerts the nearest driver to arrive on the specified location. uberAuto service is affordable and reasonable, charging just Rs.1/min and Rs.3/km. The official site reads:

Our aim at Uber is to adapt our technology to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation in each of the 500 cities Uber is available in. This is why we couldn’t be more excited to introduce uberAUTO, Pakistan’s first rickshaw service at the tap of an app is now available in Karachi.
Affordable and sized to navigate through even the worst traffic jams, it’s easy to understand why Rickshaws are such a popular way to get around Karachi. With uberAUTO, we are using technology to better serve our riders and the city they live in.”
Launching in the most populous city of Pakistan, Uber will give some serious competition to the rivals: Careem and Travly. Also, Uber claims to not only care for the customers by providing them with reliable and low-cost options, but also for the drivers. Drivers will be able to earn more in less time, without having to wait between the rides.
