The WhatsApp account of University of Karachi Vice-Chancellor, Professor Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, has been hacked, the university confirmed on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, the administration is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to track the culprits. The breach has raised concerns that hackers may attempt to exploit Professor Iraqi’s identity to solicit money or sensitive information from his contacts.
Professor Iraqi urged everyone on his contact list to remain alert and avoid responding to any messages coming from his compromised account until the situation is resolved.
The university has also issued a formal notice asking staff, students, and the public to disregard any unusual or suspicious communication claiming to be from the Vice-Chancellor.
