Over 15,000 police personnel from districts across Punjab will arrive in Rawalpindi on Monday evening ahead of a planned protest by political parties, officials said.
The personnel will be accommodated in 48 educational institutions across Rawalpindi district. Of these, 21 are in Rawalpindi city, 10 in Taxila, five in Gujar Khan, and three in Kallar Syedan. Six more are located near the Chakri Interchange.
The first contingents are being deployed to put security arrangements in place before the protest. Additional police forces from other Punjab districts are expected to follow.
Authorities will decide on Monday whether to suspend classes and declare holidays at the affected institutions.
