Google is once again testing new features for YouTube Premium subscribers, and the latest experiment aims to enhance content discovery. The platform is rolling out a new feature for Android users that adds video recommendations directly within the “Now Playing” queue, making it easier to decide what to watch next without navigating back to the homepage.
How the Feature Works?
When enabled, this feature allows users to open their playback queue and see a list of suggested videos based on their viewing habits. While these recommendations won’t be automatically added to the queue or autoplay once the current lineup ends, they provide a convenient way to discover new content while still in the viewing experience.
In testing, the feature’s effectiveness varied. For instance, when a queue included both a WWE wrestling clip and a music-related video, the recommendations seemed more in line with the user’s general homepage suggestions rather than being specifically tailored to those videos. However, when a playlist consisted only of music, YouTube consistently suggested similar content.
This experimental feature is available exclusively for Android users and will be accessible until April 7, 2025. As with other YouTube Premium experiments, its future depends on user feedback and engagement levels.
Alongside in-queue recommendations, YouTube has also extended its Faster Playback Speeds experiment on mobile. This allows users to increase playback speeds up to 4x for a more rapid viewing experience. Like the in-queue recommendations, this test is also set to run until April 7.

Whether these features will become permanent remains uncertain, but they showcase YouTube’s continued efforts to refine its Premium offerings and improve content discovery.
