YouTube TV Plans Will Let Users Pick Genre-Specific Content Packages
YouTube TV is preparing one of its biggest shifts since launch, as the company plans to introduce new YouTube TV plans in early 2026. The move marks a major step away from the single bundle that defined the service since it arrived in 2017 at $35 per month. It also signals YouTube’s slow but steady move toward a cable-style model built around mix-and-match genres.
The company has not revealed pricing yet, but the goal seems clear. Customers will get smaller, genre-focused bundles that should cost less than the current plan. YouTube TV raised its price to $83 per month last year, which is a 137 percent jump from when the service began almost nine years ago.
YouTube has not shared the full list of packages, although it has confirmed the first categories. Users will see sports, news, family, and entertainment plans, and they can combine them as needed. The YouTube TV Sports Plan will feature major broadcast channels along with several well-known sports networks, including every ESPN network, FS1, and NBC Sports Network. The structure closely matches rival offerings from Fubo and DirecTV.
The new plans will sit alongside the existing $83 all-in-one option. For now, YouTube TV subscribers can expect more choice, more customization, and a service that looks even more like the cable model it once tried to replace.
