Grok Surpasses OpenAI, Google & DeepSeek on Apple’s App Store
In terms of productivity apps available on Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store, Elon Musk’s xAI firm Grok has outperformed OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini (a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., NASDAQ:GOOGL), and DeepSeek (a Chinese app).
Musk showcased Grok’s accomplishment on X in a screenshot he published on Thursday. Even before releasing its voice mode and other forthcoming features, Grok managed to win the top spot, he pointed out.
“This is without voice mode and many other features coming out in the next few days,” he said.

The result comes after xAI released Grok 3 on February 18, which upgraded AI features such as image analysis.
Its introduction came after DeepSeek shocked Wall Street in January 2025 with the publication of a powerful open-source model.
Premium+ users of Musk’s social media site X can now access Grok 3. Users who access the chatbot through Grok.com or the xAI mobile app can now take advantage of a new subscription option called SuperGrok.
In November of last year, Musk’s artificial intelligence business was valued at $50 billion.
Meanwhile, a group of investors affiliated with Musk made an offer of $97.4 billion to buy out OpenAI’s nonprofit holdings. Nevertheless, the creator of ChatGPT declined the offer.
