Xiaomi Modular Optical System Concept Unveiled with DSLR-Level Imaging

Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi Modular Optical System concept, showcasing its latest imaging innovation.

Although still in the concept phase, this technology aims to transform mobile photography by enabling DSLR-like image quality on smartphones. The company revealed the concept through a teaser video featuring a modified Xiaomi 15 device equipped with a MagSafe-style magnetic ring.

The Xiaomi Modular Optical System concept integrates a customized external lens, allowing users to capture professional-grade photos effortlessly. Designed to blend seamlessly with the device’s hardware, this system also supports in-device editing and sharing of images taken with the external lens.

Enhanced by Xiaomi’s LaserLink technology, it ensures swift communication between the phone and the lens. This concept boasts a 100MP Micro Four Thirds (M4/3) sensor paired with a 35mm all-aspherical glass lens, offering superior low-light performance and exceptional clarity.
