A 1990s wireless phone carrying the Mobilink name, used by the character Billo, played by Mahira Khan, in the latest episode of Mitti De Baway, has drawn attention from viewers on social media.
The phone appears as the financial position of Billo improves, reflecting her rising status. Viewers noticed the Mobilink branding displayed next to the phone number, recalling a period when mobile phones were a luxury for many in Pakistan.
Fans also pointed out that the number on screen was one digit short, suggesting it may have been shortened to prevent viewers from calling a real number.
Several users shared their own memories of similar devices. One viewer said their father owned the same model, while another said the phone was widely known as a wireless phone and was mostly owned by wealthy people at the time.
The drama is set across different periods in Punjab and has been praised for its production design. Costumes, accessories, currency notes and household settings reflect the era of the story.
Mitti De Baway stars Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali and airs on Green Entertainment. It is written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain.
