Pta Chairman Meets Starlink Team At Mwc 2025

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move towards enhancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman held discussions with the Starlink team at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

The meeting focused on expanding affordable broadband access, particularly in underserved areas, to bridge the digital divide and accelerate the nation’s digital transformation, PTA said in a statement.

The PTA chairman emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering innovation and enabling emerging technologies for nationwide connectivity. He revealed that Starlink’s registration process with the satellite regulatory body is currently underway with official launch expected in June. Obtaining this registration is a mandatory step for securing a PTA license for satellite-based internet services in Pakistan.

During the discussions, the Starlink team provided insights into satellite-based internet solutions and their potential to revolutionize connectivity in remote regions of Pakistan. Both sides also explored regulatory frameworks and operational strategies to ensure seamless integration of these services.
