Pixel 9 Pro Wins ‘Phone of the Year’ at MWC Glomo Awards

Google received two Mobile World Congress (MWC) awards from GLOMO, one of which was for the Pixel 9 Pro, and made some announcements about upcoming initiatives during its presence at the 2025 event in Barcelona.

It is worth mentioning that the Glomos Awards “recognise excellence in the mobile industry” through the judging of a group of industry professionals, analysts, and tech journalists. They choose the best smartphone of the year based on design, innovation, performance, and overall user experience. In 2025, the Pixel 9 Pro was the best phone.

Gemini, Google’s AI-powered mobile experience, won the Breakthrough Device Innovation award. Especially with the Pixel, Google has started incorporating Gemini into all of its products. Intelligent responses, enhanced search, and voice assistants built into devices are just a few examples of the pervasive AI-driven features.

Among last year’s Android smartphones, the Pixel 9 Pro stands out. With modern AI tools integrated into an excellent software experience, it has a ton of necessary functionality.

The judges deliberated over the Pixel 9 Pro’s AI-powered capabilities, camera improvements, software support, reasonable pricing points, elegant hardware design, and overall attractiveness.

In 2016, when it debuted the first Pixel, Google had an enthusiastic vision. The device encountered numerous obstacles and setbacks along the way. Nevertheless, it appeared that the Pixel finally found its groove with the redesign of the Pixel 6 in 2021.

Even though it didn’t win any Glomos, that phone was popular, and its unique look put Google at the top of the luxury smartphone pile, where it is today.
