MWC 2025: Biggest Reveals from Samsung, Nothing, and Other Brands
BARCELONA: The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, the biggest tech event of the year, took place last week. While some major announcements started trickling in late last week, they are all considered part of the MWC-related coverage.
Several tech giants, including Infinix, Nubia, Samsung, Tecno, Xiaomi, and Apple, took advantage of the event to unveil their latest products and innovations.
Infinix Note 50 Series
One of the most anticipated launches was the Infinix Note 50 series, which includes the Note 50 and Note 50 Pro. These models bring notable upgrades over their predecessors, particularly with larger 5,200mAh batteries, improved camera setups, and faster 144Hz displays.
The Infinix Note 50 is available in green, red, grey, and gold, with an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model starting at IDR 2,699,000 ($165) in Indonesia. The Note 50 Pro, which comes in purple, gold, grey, and silver, starts at IDR 2,999,000 ($182) for the base model with the same storage configuration.
Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro
Nothing introduced two new smartphones, the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, which feature nearly identical specifications but distinct design elements.
Both models boast a 6.77-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, 8GB or 12GB RAM options, and 5,000mAh batteries with 50W fast charging.
The standard Phone (3a) comes with:
- 50MP main camera with 50mm 2x zoom
- 8MP ultrawide lens
- 32MP front-facing camera
The Phone (3a) Pro, on the other hand, features:
- A larger 50MP sensor for the main camera
- A 50MP front-facing camera
- A longer 70mm zoom
Prices for the Phone (3a) start at £329 (€329, 118,975 PKR) for the 8GB/128GB model and go up to £379 ($379, €379, 137,048 PKR) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The Phone (3a) Pro is priced at £349 ($459, €459, 126,177 PKR) for the 12GB/256GB version.
ZTE’s Nubia Neo 3 and Neo 3 GT
ZTE’s Nubia brand introduced two budget-friendly gaming smartphones, the Neo 3 and Neo 3 GT. Both models come with 120Hz refresh rate displays for smooth gameplay and shoulder triggers to enhance the gaming experience. The Neo 3 is powered by a Unisoc T8300 chipset and offers a 5,200mAh or 6,000mAh battery, depending on the market.
Meanwhile, the Neo 3 GT features a more powerful Unisoc T9100 processor, along with a 4,082 mm² vapor chamber cooling system to prevent overheating during intense gaming sessions. It also provides an option between a 5,000mAh or 6,000mAh battery, catering to users who prioritize battery life.
Samsung’s Big Reveal
Samsung showcased three new smartphones at MWC 2025:
- Galaxy S26
- Galaxy A36
- Galaxy A56
The Galaxy A56 comes with a 6.7-inch display, an Exynos 1580 processor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Pricing starts at $499 (€479).
The Galaxy A36 comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 45W fast charging, and a 5,000mAh battery, offering a balance of performance and efficiency. The base 128GB model is priced at $400 (€380), maintaining the same cost as its predecessor.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy A26 features a 6.7-inch OLED display, is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, and includes a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging. The 128GB variant of the A26 is available for €300, making it an affordable option in Samsung’s lineup. Samsung also promised six years of security updates and OS upgrades for all three models.
Apple’s Major Announcements
At MWC 2025, Apple introduced several new products, reinforcing its commitment to performance and efficiency. The lineup includes the M4-powered MacBook Air, the M4 Max Mac Studio, and the M3 Ultra System-on-a-Chip (SoC), showcasing advancements in computing power.
