Hackers breached the IT system of Government College University Faisalabad and attempted to alter the marks of dozens of students.
Unauthorized individuals gained access to the teachers portal and changed the results of 32 students across 72 courses. The universitys Controller Office has withheld these results after detecting discrepancies between manual records and the online system.
GC University administration has approached the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing and requested a formal investigation into the breach.
In its application, the university stated that the unidentified individuals had also accepted money in exchange for altering student results. Records show repeated access to the faculty portals of several teachers from a specific IP address on multiple dates.
The university administration clarified that no degree or mark certificate based on a fraudulent result has been issued to any student so far.
