Ministry Offers Full Support to Pak-Suzuki Biogas Project
ISLAMABAD: When it comes to developing, researching, and marketing biogas as an energy source in Pakistan, the Pak-Suzuki Corporation has the full support of the Ministry of Industries and Production.
Haroon Akhtar Khan, Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM), met with Pak-Suzuki Motors representatives and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with them on the biogas plant’s construction. Aside from being an important part of environmental preservation, the biogas plant is also going to give local farmers economic options.
According to Khan, biogas is a great way to address Pakistan’s energy needs, which will help alleviate the country’s fuel shortage and cut down on carbon emissions.
With an estimated yearly production of 8.8-17.2B m³ from animal dung and wastes, Pakistan possesses enormous biogas potential. Every day, it could generate around 16.3 million square meters of product if it had 170 million cattle. There is a power potential of 4,761–5554 MW and 12,615M m³/yr added by biomass.
15M plants are possible, but only 5357 plants are making 20,454 m³/day right now. In addition, the country has the potential to create bio-fertilizers at a rate of 21 million tonnes per year, which would have the dual benefit of increasing agricultural output while simultaneously reducing production costs.
He brought attention to the fact that keeping the environment clean is a priority for the prime minister’s “Uraan Vision,” and that Pakistan has committed to a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.
With 16.91 billion dollars going towards petroleum alone, Haroon Akhtar Khan noted that Pakistan’s overall imports have topped 54 billion dollars. A decrease in oil imports and an increase in domestic energy production are both facilitated by the biogas plant’s construction.
This initiative aims to manufacture biogas in Pakistan using cow dung, which would then be used as fuel for various industries and automobiles. Local farmers in Pakistan stand to gain economically from this project, which has the potential to radically alter the country’s energy landscape.
In addition to announcing that the government will develop a policy for industrial biogas to guarantee its successful use and promotion, Haroon Akhtar Khan has ordered the project’s rapid implementation.
