India blocks Insta Profiles of Hania, Mahira & Ali Zafar as War Hysteria grows
Hania Amir’s Instagram account has been banned in India, alongside accounts of Ali Zafar and Mahira Khan, as the Indian government intensifies its crackdown on Pakistani digital content amid escalating tensions.
Indian fans attempting to visit the Instagram profiles of popular Pakistani celebrities like Hania Amir are now met with the message, “Account not available in India.” The restrictions are part of the Indian government’s broader campaign to limit Pakistani content, citing compliance with court orders.
The Hania Amir Instagram account ban is part of a larger digital purge. Following the Pahalgam incident, Indian authorities earlier suspended 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including major outlets like ARY News and Dawn News, accusing them of spreading “sensitive” information.
Adding to the digital blockade, the Indian government has also restricted access to the official Twitter account of the Pakistani government for Indian users.
Selective Bans Target Specific Celebrities
Interestingly, not all Pakistani celebrities have been impacted. Instagram profiles of stars like Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam remain accessible in India, suggesting the bans are selective, possibly based on the nature of content or specific governmental directives.
Hania Amir has been particularly affected by the restriction. Reports indicate that 30 to 40 percent of her Instagram followers were from India, making the ban a significant hit to her digital presence and fan engagement across the border.
The move reflects a deepening of the digital divide between the two countries and highlights how cultural and entertainment exchanges continue to suffer amid ongoing political tensions.
