Punjab Safe Cities App Now Works Without Internet
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a major upgrade to its Public Safety Mobile App, now accessible without internet, aiming to improve citizen protection and emergency response across Punjab. The new version is especially focused on supporting vulnerable groups and expanding safety services.
Earlier, the app required mobile data to connect during emergencies, limiting access for citizens in low-connectivity areas. With support from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the app will remain free of data charges for the next 30 days, making it more inclusive and reliable in times of crisis.
The upgraded features include gesture-based SOS alerts, fall detection for epilepsy patients, accident notifications, flood alerts, and family tracking. Special agents trained in sign language have also been deployed to assist citizens with hearing and speech impairments, ensuring instant communication during emergencies.
The app now connects directly with emergency services such as fire brigade, ambulance, Motorway Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, and disaster response agencies. It also allows complaint tracking, crime reporting via the Safety Eye feature, e-challan verification, and reporting of missing or found children.
