Pakistan Airports Authority Invites Bids for New Sukkur Airport

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has officially invited bids from qualified consultants for the construction of a new airport in Sukkur, marking a major step toward improving regional air connectivity and infrastructure in Sindh.

The initiative follows the federal government’s earlier approval of new airports in Sukkur, Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), and Dera Ismail Khan, aiming to enhance domestic air travel, boost trade, and cater to increasing passenger demand in underserved regions.

According to the PAA’s announcement, consulting firms specializing in airport design, master planning, and feasibility studies are encouraged to apply. The deadline for bid submission is October 22, and preference will be given to firms with prior experience in airport development.

“This project represents a vital step in strengthening Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure and improving access to remote areas,” said an official from the Planning and Development Directorate.

The development of the Sukkur Airport is expected to ease pressure on Karachi and Multan airports, offering better connectivity for business, tourism, and logistics in upper Sindh.
