Man Caught Smuggling 60 Iphones Jailed For 6 Years By Court

A Rawalpindi court has sentenced a man to six years of rigorous imprisonment for smuggling 60 iPhones worth Rs 31.4 million into Pakistan.

The convict, identified as Zahoor, was arrested last month at Islamabad International Airport. According to officials, he was attempting to smuggle the 60 boxed iPhones from Dubai into the country without declaring them to customs authorities.

The case was heard by the Anti-Customs Crimes Special Court. Judge Shabana Rasalat announced the verdict after reviewing the evidence presented during the trial. The court found the man guilty of violating customs laws and sentenced him to six years in prison.

In addition to the prison term, the court ordered the confiscation of all his movable and immovable assets. The 60 iPhones, which were recovered during the investigation, were also seized and handed over to the state.

Following the verdict, Zahoor was taken into custody and transferred to “Adiala Jail”. The decision highlights Pakistan’s growing crackdown on smuggling and efforts to curb illegal imports of high-value electronics through airports.
