Ptcl Group Advances Global Api Innovation With Camara Standard Under Gsma Open Gateway Initiative At Gitex Global 2025

PTCL Group (PTCL & Ufone 4G) and GSMA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at GITEX Global 2025, expanding their collaboration beyond the telecom sector to include multiple industries. The GSMA Open Gateway initiative aims to help enterprises connect their services to mobile networks easily and securely through Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs), simplifying the rollout of new digital services and accelerating innovation at scale.

PTCL Group also announced the successful development and certification of two new APIs, ‘Send OTP’ and ‘Validate OTP,’ based on the CAMARA standard 1.0.0, the latest release featuring Client Initiated Backend Authentication (CIBA). By joining the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, these APIs enable enterprises and telecom operators to access standardized, secure, and interoperable services.

With this achievement, PTCL Group joins global leaders driving digital transformation by allowing businesses to seamlessly integrate mobile network capabilities into their platforms. The newly certified APIs strengthen user authentication, reduce fraud risks, and enhance customer experiences using globally recognized security and reliability frameworks.

Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, PTCL & Ufone 4G, Jafar Khalid, said, “This milestone marks another step forward in PTCL Group’s journey to modernize and standardize our integration ecosystem through the CAMARA framework. By adopting this global standard, we are simplifying our technology operations, increasing agility, and accelerating time-to-market, while ensuring improved service quality. Over time, this foundation will enable PTCL Group to collaborate more deeply with developers, hyperscalers, startups, and enterprises, unlocking new business models, monetizing network capabilities, and driving sustainable growth across the digital ecosystem.”

Jawad Abbassi, Head of MENA, GSMA, added, “We are delighted to welcome PTCL Group to the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. Their participation marks a significant step forward in strengthening the digital ecosystem across Pakistan and the broader region. By opening up network capabilities through common APIs, PTCL Group is fostering innovation, enhancing interoperability, and enabling new digital services at scale. This collaboration is crucial for unlocking the full potential of 5G, IoT, and next-generation applications.”

By combining global collaboration with local expertise, PTCL Group continues to play a leading role in shaping the future of digital services for industries, enterprises, and consumers in Pakistan.
