Halo 2 3 Remakes Reportedly In The Works After Halo 1 Remake

The original Halo trilogy might be returning with a modern twist. A prominent Halo insider claims Halo 2 and Halo 3 are both getting “Campaign Evolved”-style remakes built in Unreal Engine 5.

The claim surfaced soon after the reveal of Halo: Campaign Evolved, the full remake of the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved.

Halo Leaks Claims Full Remakes

Halo insider @leaks_infinite posted on X:

Like Halo: Campaign Evolved, both rumoured remakes will include updated visuals, gameplay changes, and even new levels. However, they will remain campaign-only, with no multiplayer modes.

According to the leaker, Halo Studios plans to reserve multiplayer for the next mainline title, Halo 7.

Halo’s PlayStation Era Begins

When Halo: Campaign Evolved launches in 2026, it will mark the first time the Halo franchise appears on PlayStation. The move ends over two decades of Xbox exclusivity, signalling a major shift for Microsoft’s flagship shooter.

This follows the official announcement at the 2025 Halo World Championships in Seattle. You can read our detailed coverage of the remake here.

Xbox social marketing manager Josh Stein expressed his excitement on X:

Mixed Reactions from Halo Veterans

The reveal of Halo: Campaign Evolved sparked strong reactions from the franchise’s original creators.

Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo and designer of Master Chief, praised the project:

However, not everyone shared his enthusiasm. Jaime Griesemer, design lead on Halo 2 and Halo 3, criticised some of the remake’s changes in a series of X posts:

In follow-up posts, Griesemer admitted players could push the Warthog through with effort, but said it was meant to be “discouraging and difficult but not impossible”. He later added that new vehicle damage mechanics made such tricks even harder.

Finally, he questioned the purpose of remaking Halo at all, writing:

Halo 3 Could Finally Get Its First Remake

While Halo: Combat Evolved was remastered in 2011 and Halo 2 in 2014 as part of “The Master Chief Collection”, Halo 3 has never been remade or remastered. This makes it a prime candidate for a full Unreal Engine 5 rebuild.

With Halo: Campaign Evolved set for release in 2026, fans may need to wait before any official confirmation about the Halo 2 or 3 remakes.

For now, it seems Halo’s legendary trilogy is preparing to “finish the fight” once again, this time for a new generation of players across all platforms.
