In a major development for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatisation process, the Privatisation Commission Board has approved the inclusion of AKD Group Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd in the Arif Habib Corporation Limited (AHCL)-led consortium.

The decision, made during the commission’s 242nd meeting, strengthens the consortium’s position among the four pre-qualified bidders in the ongoing PIA privatisation. Officials said this inclusion aligns with the Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) guidelines and aims to bring in stronger financial and technical expertise.

This step marks another milestone in the government’s efforts to restructure and privatise PIA to restore operational efficiency and reduce fiscal burdens.
