Punjab Launches Online Auction for Fancy Vehicle Number Plates

The Punjab Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has opened online registration for its November e-auction of fancy car and motorcycle number plates, allowing citizens to bid for their preferred registration numbers through a fully digital process.
The auction, developed in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), enables users to participate via the e-Auction App or web portal until November 30. Successful bidders’ details will be displayed online to ensure transparency and fairness.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the initiative has made the entire process “simple, transparent, and accessible from anywhere in Punjab,” adding that it eliminates the need for physical visits and reduces administrative delays.
Officials noted that the e-auction system reflects Punjab’s broader digital transformation drive, encouraging convenience, transparency, and citizen participation in public services.
