The Lahore district court has reserved its decision on whether to return confiscated YouTube accounts and equipment to Saad ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, amid concerns over recent uploads during the ongoing legal proceedings.
During Monday’s hearing, the prosecutor informed the court that Saad ur Rehman had uploaded eight videos since his equipment was seized. This revelation prompted serious questions from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
“The YouTube account is still evidence in the case. How can the YouTuber upload videos?” asked the NCCIA Assistant Director, highlighting risks that Rehman might delete or alter content crucial to the investigation.
Saad ur Rehman defended himself, telling the court he had submitted an affidavit promising not to tamper with any videos. He clarified, “I did not upload the videos. My editor uploaded them.”
When the court asked him to identify the editor, Saad ur Rehman said it was a friend living in Hyderabad. The judge also questioned the NCCIA director about whether officials were aware that someone else could access the account. The director explained that account owners sometimes do not provide editors access to their platforms.
After hearing arguments from both sides and their legal representatives, the court postponed its verdict.
Saad ur Rehman had secured bail from the Lahore High Court on November 24, after spending more than three months in custody. His release was approved on a surety of ten lakh rupees, with Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry delivering the decision.
