Government Announces New Security Upgrade To Pakistani Passports

Pakistan is set to introduce a new generation of passports with enhanced security features as part of a broader effort to prevent forgery and improve the integrity of travel documents.

The announcement was made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during an official visit to the Beijing Public Security Passport Bureau, where he reviewed China’s passport issuance and immigration management systems. The minister was received by senior Chinese officials, including Director General Sun Yu, and was briefed on the full operational process.

Naqvi praised the speed and efficiency of China’s entry and exit management framework, describing it as a strong example of how technology can improve public services. He said Pakistan has already made progress in building a faster and more secure passport system, and the current upgrades are aimed at bringing it closer to international standards.

According to the minister, Pakistan’s immigration and passport infrastructure is being modernized with a focus on digital solutions, improved security layers, and simplified processing for citizens, while ensuring stronger safeguards against misuse.

The visit reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen document security, modernize immigration services, and ensure greater trust in its official travel documents both at home and abroad.
