Rawalpindi Sees Highest Ever Driving License Issuance In 2025

The annual report reveals that Rawalpindi Traffic Police facilitated 1,386,887 citizens through its licensing system in 2025, the highest figure recorded to date. Officials attribute this achievement to the expansion of licensing centers and the introduction of service-oriented reforms aimed at reducing delays and overcrowding.

Under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam, the department prioritized public convenience and operational efficiency.

“Our focus remained on improving access and ensuring transparent, timely service for every applicant,” a senior traffic police official stated.

During the year, the department issued more than 434,000 learner permits, indicating a strong influx of first-time drivers, particularly young residents. Additionally, 244,825 new driving licenses were issued  the highest annual total in Rawalpindi’s history.

The report also highlights the issuance of 3,932 international driving licenses, allowing residents to legally drive abroad, reflecting growing overseas travel and employment trends.

In recent years, Rawalpindi has witnessed rapid urban growth, increased vehicle ownership, and greater awareness of legal driving requirements. To meet this demand, the traffic police expanded licensing facilities across the district and digitized several processes, significantly reducing waiting times.

Officials believe the record numbers demonstrate growing public trust in the licensing system and a positive shift toward lawful driving practices, which could contribute to improved road safety in the long term.
