Apple may be close to revealing its first foldable phone, widely known as the iPhone Fold. The device is now expected to arrive later this year with the iPhone 18 Pro series, based on a new leak.
The report adds fresh details about how Apple plans to build the device. It says the iPhone Fold will use a hinge made from liquid metal, a material that is both strong and flexible. Apple has reportedly tested this alloy for more than 15 years across different hardware projects.
Because of its unique structure, liquid metal could help reduce wear at the folding area. It may also lower stress where the screen bends, which is a major weak point in foldable phones.
At the same time, the body of the foldable iPhone could use a new form of titanium. This version of titanium is said to be lighter and stronger than the one used in recent iPhone models. As a result, Apple could make the device more durable without adding extra weight.
The phone is also expected to come with a different screen setup than most foldables. The inner display is rumored to measure 7.76 inches, while the outer cover screen could be 5.49 inches. These sizes suggest Apple is aiming for a compact foldable that still offers a large main display.
In addition, the iPhone Fold may feature a dual rear camera system. While details about the sensors remain unclear, this setup fits Apple’s focus on slim designs and balanced hardware.
Even though the launch could happen later this year, buyers may have to wait longer. The device is said to reach stores in early 2027, which gives Apple time to refine its first foldable.
If these leaks are accurate, the iPhone Fold could mark a major shift in Apple’s phone lineup. The mix of liquid metal, new titanium, and unique screen sizes hints at a design built to last.
