Samsung is planning to upgrade its Galaxy Z Fold8 with improved display technology this summer, aiming to make the fold less noticeable. The new screen is expected to reduce the visible crease by around 20 percent, although it remains unclear how crease visibility is measured.
The company will reportedly use Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) not only for the top layer but also for the bottom of the display. Alongside this, a laser-drilled metal support plate will strengthen the foldable structure, further helping to minimize the crease. This method differs from the rumored iPhone Fold, which is said to use a glass substrate while still sourcing its foldable screen from Samsung.
Samsung has previously demonstrated a foldable display without any visible crease at CES 2026. However, it is not confirmed that this exact technology will appear on the Z Fold8. If implemented, the upgrades could make folding phones feel more seamless and durable than ever.
