Pakistani-American lawyer Zunaira Tariq has been appointed as Operations Leader Mobility at TikTok’s headquarters in the United States, taking on a key role in the company’s international expansion and talent strategy.
In this position, Zunaira will oversee global talent mobility and immigration strategy across TikTok’s major markets. Her work includes managing complex relocation projects and workforce mobility initiatives to support the company’s rapid growth in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.
Talking about her journey, Zunaira said, “I attribute my success to a combination of relentless hard work and the invaluable guidance of the mentors who have shaped my path. In this role, I am responsible for handling strategic planning supporting international growth, acting as a strategic partner, providing expertise on international projects, and ensuring legal and tax compliance across different countries.”
Zunaira Tariq brings extensive experience in international law, public policy, and global mobility. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from the University of London and a Master of Laws from the University of Washington School of Law.
Before joining TikTok, she worked at Microsoft headquarters in Seattle as a Mobility and Immigration Consultant, managing talent mobility programs for the multinational technology firm.
In Pakistan, she has also held prominent public sector roles. She served as legal counsel for the Benazir Income Support Program within the Ministry of Interior and later made history as the first woman adviser to the Director-General of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), where she managed a major international expansion project in the United Arab Emirates.
Her appointment at TikTok comes at a time when the company is intensifying its global growth initiatives and focusing on attracting top international talent to support its expanding operations. Her expertise in cross-border mobility and compliance is expected to play a critical role in shaping the company’s workforce strategy in multiple regions.
Zunaira Tariq comes from a notable political family in Pakistan and is the granddaughter of former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Altaf. Her appointment at TikTok marks another milestone in her distinguished international career.
