Nearly 30,000 residents of Balochistan moved abroad for employment over the past five years, according to official data presented in the National Assembly. The figures were shared by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis in a written reply, detailing country-wise labor migration from the province.
According to the documents, a total of 29,813 individuals from Balochistan left Pakistan in search of employment opportunities during the reviewed period, highlighting the growing reliance on overseas jobs among the province’s workforce.
Saudi Arabia emerged as the top destination, employing 12,770 workers from Balochistan. The United Arab Emirates followed with 8,141 individuals, while Qatar received 3,806 workers and Oman employed 3,225 people from the province.
Other Middle Eastern countries also attracted Baloch workers, including Bahrain, which received 632 individuals.
Employment Beyond the Middle East
Beyond the Gulf region, Balochistan residents secured employment in several other countries. Official records show workers moved to Japan (323), China (204), the United Kingdom (105), Australia (72), Kuwait (64), Malaysia (42), New Zealand (33), the United States (29), Italy (24), Kyrgyzstan (23), Zambia (21), Canada (19), Korea (4), and one additional worker in Japan.
Additionally, 275 individuals went to various other countries, reflecting a wide and diverse pattern of overseas employment from the province.
