Samsung has just unveiled the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but talk has already turned to what comes next. Early leaks now hint at major camera changes for the Galaxy S27 lineup. While the next flagship is still far away, fresh details suggest Samsung is working on new hardware behind the scenes.
A well-known Chinese tipster claims Samsung is developing a new 200MP ISOCELL sensor. The sensor is reportedly called HPA. It is said to feature a large 1/1.12-inch format. According to the leak, smartphones could debut with this sensor in 2027.
The report also mentions support for LOFIC technology. This feature helps improve dynamic range in photos. Although the Galaxy S27 Ultra was not named directly, the timing makes it an obvious candidate. Samsung often introduces new camera hardware in its Ultra models first.
Another leaker shared a slightly different detail. He says the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use a modified version of the same sensor. This version may carry the name HP6. However, it could come with a smaller 1/1.3-inch size.
Despite the reduced size, performance may stay close to the larger HPA sensor. That claim suggests Samsung could optimize the hardware through tuning and processing. In recent years, software improvements have played a bigger role in mobile photography.
