The Punjab government has started working on a plan to upgrade hundreds of high schools across the province to higher secondary level, making it possible for students to complete their FA and FSc without changing institutions. The move is aimed at improving access to intermediate education, especially for students in areas where colleges are limited or far away.
As part of the process, authorities have asked schools to provide detailed information about their facilities. This includes the availability of classrooms, infrastructure, and overall capacity to support additional classes.
Officials say the decision will depend largely on whether schools have enough space and suitable buildings.
According to initial data, Punjab currently has around 6,000 high schools. Out of these, nearly 5,800 institutions have already submitted their reports. Around 795 schools have shown interest in being upgraded, provided they meet the required conditions.
