A new mobile application developed by two students aims to simplify travel for commuters using Punjab’s electric bus service by providing easy access to routes and schedules.
The app was created after one of the developers, Muhammad Ghayas, experienced difficulty in finding accurate bus timings, which led to a long wait at a bus stop. Along with co-developer Rizwan Ali, he designed a solution to address the issue faced by daily passengers.
According to the developers, the application offers detailed information about electric bus routes, stops, and departure timings across multiple cities in Punjab. It also sends notifications to users regarding any changes in schedules or routes, while its offline functionality ensures accessibility even without internet connectivity.
Currently, the app is not available on the Google Play Store and can only be accessed through a website. Despite this, it has gained significant traction online, receiving over 50,000 views on social media within two days and being downloaded by more than 500 users.
The developers noted that the project is still in its early stages and does not yet include live bus tracking. They said adding this feature would require collaboration with government authorities, including the Punjab Transport Authority and the Punjab Information Technology Board.
They have reached out to officials, including the Chief Minister of Punjab, seeking support to expand the app’s capabilities and improve public transport accessibility. The application currently covers routes in six to seven major cities, with users from other areas also requesting inclusion.
