Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its flights to Fujairah, UAE, for the next 48 hours. Consequently, the airline is severely limiting its UAE operations. Currently, PIA operates flights exclusively to Al Ain. An airline spokesperson confirmed this decision on Wednesday. Therefore, PIA implemented this temporary suspension in direct response to the worsening security situation in the Gulf countries.
The US-Israel war against Iran began last month, on February 28. Since then, the conflict has heavily impacted the UAE. Furthermore, the UAE reports it has faced over 2,000 Iranian drone and missile attacks during this time.
The ongoing Middle East conflict heavily disrupts key air corridors. As a result, airlines worldwide must cancel or reroute thousands of flights. Similarly, Pakistan faces massive aviation disruptions. Since February 28, airlines have canceled hundreds of scheduled international flights between Pakistan and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is pushing to stabilize the region. The country actively urges all sides to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation. Moreover, Pakistan has officially offered to mediate the crisis to help de-escalate the ongoing Middle East tensions.
