The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, has approved a new Master of Science (MS) program in the Department of Media and Communication at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Shaheed Benazirabad.
The initiative is considered a major step forward for the university, offering students the chance to pursue advanced studies in journalism and media while remaining in central Sindh. It is expected to expand access to quality higher education, enabling students to benefit from research-focused learning and practical training within their region.
The program will officially commence after obtaining final approval and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Sindh Higher Education Commission, for which a request has already been submitted.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Madad Ali Shah emphasized the significance of media and mass communication in shaping social, intellectual, and political trends. He noted that the MS program will strengthen the university’s academic and research capabilities, providing students with advanced skills in research, analysis, and practical journalism aligned with current industry demands.
The Vice Chancellor added that programs like these enhance institutional reputation and contribute to raising the overall standard of education in Pakistan. He expressed hope that graduates will make meaningful contributions through their research, skills, and professional work, bringing pride to both the university and the province of Sindh.
