The Punjab government has announced a plan to provide electric bikes to Excise Department employees, aiming to enhance field performance and help the department achieve its Rs. 73 billion recovery target.
According to officials, excise inspectors across the province, including both male and female staff, will receive electric two-wheelers based on their performance.
In the first phase, the government plans to distribute 150 electric bikes along with 50 electric scooties specifically for female inspectors. Over Rs. 50 million has been allocated for the procurement of these vehicles, with the purchasing process reportedly in its final stages.
Officials said distribution of the electric bikes and scooties is expected to begin next month. Under the scheme, the vehicles will be transferred to employees after three years, allowing them to become owners after completing the period.
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to modernize the Excise Department and boost efficiency in revenue collection.
