The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a new initiative to provide interest-free loans for media startups, aimed at supporting young journalists in launching independent media platforms and digital news ventures.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi said the initiative is part of a broader vision aligned with the ideology of Imran Khan, focusing on strengthening independent media and enabling journalists to build self-sustaining platforms.
Support for Independent Media Growth
According to the chief minister, the scheme will provide financial assistance to aspiring media entrepreneurs, helping them establish independent media houses, digital news platforms, and content-driven startups.
He added that the program is designed not only to support journalism but also to create new employment opportunitiesfor youth in the province.
Broader Development Strategy
The KP government also plans to integrate the initiative into a wider development framework covering media, information technology, and related creative sectors.
Additional measures include:
- Establishment of media colonies
- Upgradation of press clubs in merged districts
- Long-term capacity building for journalists and media professionals

The chief minister emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, professional independence, and digital transformation of the media sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
