A 55-year-old online cab driver was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the Scheme 33 neighbourhood in Karachi during the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to the media report, Police identified the victim as Vehando, a retired government employee originally from Umerkot, Sindh, who had eight children.
The attack occurred in the Gulzar-e-Hijri locality, where Vehando was seated inside his car alongside one other person at the time.
Assailants opened fire on the vehicle of the Vehando before fleeing the scene, leaving him fatally wounded; his body was transferred to hospital for a postmortem.
Vehando had been using his private car as an online taxi after retiring from government service, having purchased the vehicle several years ago.
Police have suggested the killing may be linked to personal enmity, though the family stated they were unaware of any dispute with others.
Authorities have begun collecting CCTV footage from surrounding areas as part of an ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting.
