Capcom just surprised fans. Late yesterday, the publisher shadow-dropped a brand new DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. The update brings the hit game to version 1.300.000. Consequently, players can now download the free “Leon Must Die Forever” mode across all supported platforms. However, you must complete the main story campaign first to access this new content.

A Grueling New Roguelike Experience
Unlike standard story expansions, this update introduces a brutal roguelike challenge. Players take exclusive control of Leon S. Kennedy. Next, they must survive 20 increasingly difficult levels without dying. Because this is a roguelike mode, death triggers a permanent game over. Therefore, failing sends you straight back to the beginning.
The mode kicks off at Level 1 on Main Street. From there, players advance by locating glowing doors. Along the way, Leon faces relentless Raccoon City hordes. Eventually, the difficulty ramps up with formidable bosses like The Commander, Super Tyrant, and Victor.
Gameplay Mechanics & Upgrades
To survive, Leon utilizes special abilities and enhancements. For instance, players can upgrade weapon firepower and boost the durability of his hatchet. Furthermore, killing enemies and clearing areas rewards players with immediate combat boosts.
Interestingly, the mode ties back to your previous game progress. You can spend points earned from the main campaign to influence random weapon drops. Additionally, completionists can tackle 11 specific in-game challenges. This structure offers massive replayability as you hunt for the best paths and upgrades.
Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC Still on the Horizon
Admittedly, this is not the story expansion fans are eagerly awaiting. Highly requested characters like Ada Wong do not return for this mode. However, developers confirmed they are actively working on a dedicated story DLC.
Resident Evil Requiem remains a massive success for seamlessly bridging two disparate characters and playstyles. Soon, the upcoming story expansion will likely address lingering lore questions. Specifically, fans want to know who Leon S. Kennedy is married to and whether the character Grace will return or be sidelined. Until then, “Leon Must Die Forever” offers an intense, action-packed challenge.
