Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed authorities to complete Phase II of the Islamabad Safe City project by May 30, as the government accelerates efforts to modernize the capital’s security infrastructure.
During a visit to the Safe City Headquarters, Naqvi chaired a special meeting to review progress on the project, which aims to transform Islamabad into a smarter and safer city through advanced surveillance and integrated security systems.
Officials briefed the minister on the ongoing beautification and upgradation work at the headquarters, including the establishment of a new Fusion Center and a state-of-the-art control room designed to strengthen monitoring and emergency response capabilities.
Naqvi emphasized that the control room must meet international standards and be equipped with the latest technology. He also directed that all relevant institutions be integrated onto a single Safe City platform to improve coordination and operational efficiency.
Authorities informed the meeting that installation work for essential equipment is progressing rapidly and all major tools required for the project have already been provided.
Senior officials, including Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, FIA Director General Dr. Usman Anwar, Islamabad Police IG Ali Nasir Rizvi, and Safe City DG Haroon Joiya, attended the meeting to review implementation progress.
The Islamabad Safe City project is expected to enhance public safety, improve surveillance coverage, and strengthen law enforcement response across the capital.
